Borno: Gov. Zulum unveils 25-yr development plan for recovery

  • Says Boko Haram caused $6bn worth of destructions in Borno

The Borno State government has unveiled a 25-year strategic recovery plan for the State which has battled for decades with Boko Haram devastation.

According to the State governor, Babagana Zulum, who launched the plan yesterday in Maiduguri, the Plan would drive stabilization, boost recovery efforts and stimulate growth across all sectors in the state and included a 10-year transformation strategy that set out key priorities and action plans for the short, medium and long term.

The governor identified five driving pillars that are critical to achieving the vision of the plan to include: Human Capital Development, Leadership in Agriculture, Healthy Citizenry, Sustainable Environment and Regional Trade Hub for Commerce that will deliver jobs and prosperity to the citizens.

Zulum decried that over the years, the sect has caused more than $6 billion worth of destruction.

The plan, tagged: Our Borno, Our Success, has immediate, medium and long implementation phases and  is anchored on Agriculture, Commerce, Environment, Healthcare, and Human Capital Development. The governor said henceforth, all government activities will be executed in line with the development scheme.

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed did the formal launch of the programme, while former Governors, Kashim Shettima and Ali Modu Sheriff; Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; NNPC GMD, Mele Kyari attended.
